Wedding-themed café puts event-planning on the menu

WHAT’S HAPPENING

The Wedding Café and Lounge, a new entrant in Mumbai’s vibrant café scene, is neither café nor lounge in its ambience, but a first-of-its-kind fine-dining restaurant that offers a guide to wedding-planning services along with its meals.
The decor of the wedding-themed wine-and-dine destination is all-white highlighted by pink and gilt. Its USP is that it serves as a centralised guide to all the services a couple planning to marry could possibly need, from wedding planner to photographer to caterer and venue (Time Out Mumbai, May 2011).
The café has tie-ups with vendors supplying everything from flowers, band, artist management, honeymoon destinations and trousseau to mehndi, bridal makeup, invitations and mithaiwalas.
The café itself is also on offer as a wedding venue.

WHAT THIS MEANS TO BUSINESS

Couples appreciate the option of a one-stop shop where they can plan their wedding rather than run to multiple resources and coordinate among them all.
For those who cannot outsource the whole event to wedding planners, this becomes a nice alternative, where all the vendors are centralised and you use the café as a meeting point.
The wedding industry is slowly getting organised in India, with modern couples seeking professionals to handle every aspect of the wedding.
